Knowing  your Neighbor: Communicating with Immigrants

“I believe that learning to value immigrants as God does is only possible when we form individual relationships with immigrants through intercultural communication. Love can only exist through communication.”

My project is a research paper which discusses the biblical call for Christians to love Latino immigrants.  It explores the idea that loving your Latino neighbors shouldn’t be limited to donating food, money or other items.  Rather, it involves healthy cross-cultural communication by investing in, listening to and appreciating Latinos in order to establish relationships.  Finally, the paper addresses how diffulcult intercultural communication can be and offers insight into the differences between Latino and mainstream American communication habits to help guide those who are interested in putting the paper into action in their own lives.
